Barstow Community Hospital Adopts California Crisis Care Continuum Guidelines
January 5, 2021: As California continues to grapple with the post-Thanksgiving surge of patients, our greatest fears may be realized if traveling and gatherings that took place during the December holidays result in a ‘surge upon a surge.’ Such a reality would further sap our most precious resource in this battle against COVID-19 – our health care workforce.
The Hospital Association of Southern California has issued a Media Statement with the following:
"Southern California hospitals continue to plan and prepare for worst case scenarios – including having crisis standards of care plans that are aligned with the California Department of Public Health’s guidelines – a framework for health care professionals to plan for a surge of unimaginable proportions. These guidelines were developed by the state based on best practices throughout the country and guided by ethical principles. Every hospital in California has access to the guidelines, and will operationalize them, if needed, in a way that will meet the needs of their patients to the best of their ability."
Along with many other California Hospitals, Barstow Community Hospital has therefore adopted California Crisis Care Continuum Guidelines in response to recent events and the current surge of patients. You can access these guidelines by clicking here.
